DUTCH Complete Test:
Your Full Hormone Picture

Your hormone blood work came back normal, but you still don’t feel like yourself. DUTCH Complete measures how your body makes, uses, and clears hormones across a full day, giving Chelsea a far more detailed picture than a single blood draw.

About DUTCH Complete

Your hormones tell
a complex story.

DUTCH stands for Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones. Developed by Precision Analytical, it uses urine collected on filter paper at four or five times over about a day. The samples dry and are mailed to the lab, with no blood draw needed.

Blood tests usually show a hormone level at one moment. DUTCH Complete also measures hormone metabolites, which show how your body processes and clears estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and cortisol. It maps your cortisol rhythm across the day and adds melatonin, an oxidative stress marker, and six organic acids.

At Orchid Wellness, DUTCH Complete is ordered through your $250 functional consultation with Chelsea Asante, FNP-C. The test is billed separately, and your results are reviewed live, in person in Carrollton or by telehealth across Texas, New York, Virginia, and Washington DC.

Why DUTCH Complete

What a standard hormone panel
can’t show you.

Many patients come to Chelsea after hormone blood work that came back “normal.” Here is what that testing shows, and what DUTCH Complete adds.

Hormone Pathways

It’s not just how much.
It’s where your hormones go.

Your body processes hormones through different pathways. DUTCH Complete shows which ones you favor, which helps Chelsea tailor your plan.

🌿

2-OH Pathway

Often called the protective pathway. Estrogen processed this way is generally considered the gentler, less active form.
May point to
Healthy clearanceFavorable estrogen balance
⚠️

4-OH Pathway

A smaller pathway that can create reactive compounds if they are not cleared well. Research links poorly cleared 4-OH estrogens with oxidative damage.
May point to
Clearance support neededOxidative stress
🔥

16-OH Pathway

A more active, growth-promoting form of estrogen. When much of your estrogen goes this way, symptoms of estrogen excess may be more likely.
May point to
Heavy or painful periodsBreast tendernessFluid retention
🧬

Methylation

Methylation helps neutralize 2-OH and 4-OH estrogens so they can leave the body. DUTCH shows how well this step is working.
May point to
Methylation capacityPossible MTHFR impact
⚖️

Estrogen and Progesterone Balance

Progesterone balances estrogen’s effects. Low progesterone relative to estrogen is a common pattern in PMS and perimenopause.
May point to
PMSIrregular cyclesSleep and mood changes
🔀

Androgen Pathways

Testosterone and DHEA can be converted into stronger or weaker forms. DUTCH shows which direction your body favors.

What It Measures

Everything DUTCH Complete
measures.

DUTCH Complete is one of the most comprehensive hormone panels available. Here is what each part of the panel looks at and the patterns it can help reveal.

🌸

Estrogens and Metabolites

Estradiol, estrone, and estriol, plus the 2-OH, 4-OH, and 16-OH metabolites that show how your body processes estrogen.
May reveal patterns like:
Estrogen excessClearance concernsPathway balance
🌙

Progesterone Metabolites

Urine progesterone metabolites reflect overall progesterone exposure and are less variable than a single blood level.
May reveal patterns like:
Low luteal progesteronePMS patternEstrogen to progesterone balance
⚡

Androgens and Metabolites

Testosterone, DHEA-S, and androgen metabolites, including the 5-alpha and 5-beta pathways linked to hair, skin, and libido.
May reveal patterns like:
Low testosteroneHigher androgen patternsDHEA status
⏱️

Daily Cortisol and Cortisone

Free cortisol and cortisone measured across the day map your stress response rhythm from waking through bedtime.
May reveal patterns like:
Flat or inverted curveHigh evening cortisolHPA axis patterns
📊

Cortisol Metabolites

Total cortisol metabolites reflect how much cortisol you make overall, separate from how quickly your body clears it.
May reveal patterns like:
Overall cortisol outputClearance rate
😴

Melatonin

Melatonin is measured through its metabolite 6-OHMS in your waking sample, reflecting overnight melatonin output.
May reveal patterns like:
Low melatonin outputCircadian disruption
🔬

Oxidative Stress (8-OHdG)

8-OHdG is a marker of oxidative damage to DNA. Higher levels may point to a greater need for antioxidant support.
May reveal patterns like:
Oxidative stressAntioxidant needs
🧪

Organic Acids

Six organic acids act as markers for vitamin B12, vitamin B6, glutathione, dopamine, norepinephrine, and gut health.
May reveal patterns like:
B12 or B6 needsGlutathione statusNeurotransmitter activity
🧬

Methylation Activity

Estrogen metabolite ratios show how well your body methylates, the step that helps safely clear estrogen.
May reveal patterns like:
Methylation capacityPossible MTHFR impact
Who It’s For

If your hormones have
never been fully explained.

🌡️

Perimenopause and Menopause

Hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, brain fog, poor sleep, or vaginal dryness that haven’t fully improved.
📅

PMS and Cycle Changes

Severe PMS, irregular or missed cycles, heavy or painful periods, or spotting that standard blood work hasn’t explained.
💊

HRT Monitoring

On estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone therapy and want a closer look at how it is being used and cleared. DUTCH is especially useful for topical estrogen; Chelsea will tell you if your form of HRT is better checked with blood work.
😴

Fatigue and Sleep Issues

Unrefreshing sleep, insomnia, afternoon crashes, or a wired-but-tired feeling, which can be linked to cortisol rhythm or low melatonin.
🧠

Mood and Focus

Anxiety, low mood, irritability, or brain fog that shifts with your cycle or has worsened over time.
⚖️

Weight and Metabolism

Weight gain around the abdomen or trouble losing weight despite real effort, where hormones may be part of the picture.

About 2 hours after waking. Captures cortisol as it comes down from its morning peak.
Afternoon
Late afternoon, at the time listed in your kit. Captures your afternoon cortisol level.
Bedtime
Right before bed. Shows whether cortisol has declined the way it should.
Overnight
Optional. Only if you wake during the night and Chelsea asks you to collect it.

Exact collection times are listed in your kit instructions.

  • If you have regular periods, collect on the cycle days Chelsea confirms, usually days 19 to 22 of a 28-day cycle.
  • If you use hormone therapy, Chelsea will tell you when to collect relative to your last dose.
  • Stop biotin supplements 72 hours before collecting, since biotin can interfere with results.
  • Chelsea will tell you which supplements to pause. Never stop a prescription medication without talking with her first.
  • Collect on a typical day. Avoid alcohol, heavy exercise, and excess caffeine on collection day.
  • Don’t collect during an acute illness, after travel across time zones, or after a night of unusually poor sleep.
Good to Know

Results, cost, and safety.

  • Results typically return in about 2 to 3 weeks after the lab receives your sample.
  • Functional testing is direct-pay and not typically covered by insurance. HSA and FSA cards are accepted.
  • Home kits are mailed to patients in Texas, New York, Virginia, and Washington DC.
Please note: DUTCH Complete adds detail to your hormone picture but does not diagnose medical conditions on its own. For oral or vaginal progesterone and testosterone therapy, blood work is often the better monitoring tool, and Chelsea will order it when needed. Tell Chelsea about any hormones, steroid medications (including inhalers and creams), or supplements you use.
Frequently Asked Questions

DUTCH Complete FAQ

DUTCH stands for Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones. It is a testing method developed by Precision Analytical that uses dried urine samples collected at set times to measure hormones and their metabolites.
A blood test usually shows hormone levels at one moment. DUTCH Complete also shows how your body processes and clears hormones, maps your cortisol rhythm across the day, and adds melatonin, an oxidative stress marker, and organic acid markers. Blood tests are still the better choice for some questions, and Chelsea may use both.
If you have regular periods, DUTCH Complete is usually collected on days 19 to 22 of a 28-day cycle, when progesterone is near its peak. If your cycles are irregular, or you are in perimenopause, menopause, or on HRT, Chelsea will confirm your timing during your consultation.
It can for many forms of hormone therapy, especially topical estrogen such as patches, gels, and creams. For oral or vaginal progesterone and for testosterone therapy, blood work is often more reliable, so Chelsea may use DUTCH alongside blood testing or instead recommend blood work alone.
Yes. Your intake is completed online, DUTCH Complete is a home collection kit, and your results review can be by telehealth in Texas, New York, Virginia, and Washington DC, or in person in Carrollton.
Results typically return in about 2 to 3 weeks after the lab receives your sample. Once they are in, you meet with Chelsea for your live results review.
DUTCH Complete includes the cortisol and DHEA markers on DUTCH Adrenal, plus sex hormones and their metabolites, melatonin, 8-OHdG, and organic acids. DUTCH Adrenal is a focused option when stress response, fatigue, and sleep are the main concerns. Chelsea will recommend the right test during your consultation, and you would not need both.
Functional testing is generally direct-pay. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and Cherry payment plans are available to eligible patients.
